    MVP Opinions

Sunday, April 13, 2008, 12:37 PM PST [General]

Ok I know I have been slackin' on this blog. Part of the reason is I've been posting blogs on my other blog. Not sport blogs though. If you are interested here is the url: www.jreedandfriends.wordpress.com . Anyway I wanted to get my 2 cents in0 on this MVP race. Chris Paul or Kobe Bryant? Well we'll start with Chris Paul. Who thought the Hornets would really be good this year. I thought they would be as good as Golden State and Denver but not this good. They have a shot to win the division. It seems like sense they moved to Western Conference the Hornets would just be in cellar every year at the bottom of the Southwest. I mean first year in they only won 18 games. Baron Davis was eventually traded and it seemed like Byron Scott was a fool for wanting to take that job after his dismissal from the Nets. But then they got Chris Paul after that bad season. And man his 3rd year in he really can make players around him better. David West. First all star appearance this season. And Tyson Chandler's game has been far better since going to New Orleans. He has been playing very well and it seems he has just taken off since he left the Bulls. Even though he is a good player I wish the Bulls could have that one back trading Elton Brand to get him. But the main key to their success is Peja. His ability to finally stay healthy has really put them over the top. But will they get far in the playoffs because they do lack playoff experience. Thats the only big question I have about the Hornets. But Hornets have done an excellent job, they proved that they can hang in the west. and thanks to Chris Paul they are finally going to the postseason for the first time in a while. So thats why Chris Paul should win the award.

Now let me shift and go to Kobe and the Lakers.  The Lakers are a good team. They are far better than what I thought considering how they finished up the season last year. Fisher coming back and getting rid of Parker I'm pretty sure helped. And then getting rid of other guys such as Brian, Cook, Maurice Evans and Kwame Brown and getting Pau Gasol and Trevor Ariza. So in a way they did have kind of a new look team. But Kobe is playing like a team player. Now I am not a fan of the guy but it seems like the guy can do nothing right. He's been screwed out of this award numerous of times. Could've made an argument 2 seasons ago. I really think he should've won it back in 2004. Last season the team didn't play very well down the stretch so no. But this season they have a 50+ record. And he has returned the Lakers to being a contender without Shaq. Even though they have changed the team up a bit you got to give them some credit. So thats why Kobe should win it.

It is going to come down to I think who has the better record. I really don't care who won this award but Kobe I think has been jammed several times out winning it. Maybe they should do what Rick Barry suggested. Have an MVP and an Outstanding Player Award. Well thats all I got for now. Playoffs next weekend. I'll tell you my predictions before it all starts.

    EB is back!

Saturday, April 5, 2008, 11:31 AM PST [General]

Well Elton Brand returned to the lineup for the Clippers on Wednesday for the first time this season. It was good to see him out on the court even though there is very little time left in the season. He looked good out there his first two outings. They beat the Supersonics on Wednesday and lost to the Kings on Thursday. It seems kinda a crazy from here on out for the Clippers because the rest of their schedule is against playoff bound teams. The thing that really sucks is that Kaman was injured again the game before his return with a sore ankle. Thats been the story all season. If it is not one injury it is another. And he done the rest of the season. So we won't see our too low post threats in a single game together this season. We'll have to wait for next year. And it is going to be a pretty busy offseason. And they really do have to get better because the is only getting tougher. It is looking like 45+ wins this season to get into the playoffs. Teams are only getting better and whipping on the east. We'll see if the Clippers can play tough and be a spoiler or just fold these last couple of games. The only thing I ask is that they play with some effort.

Final Four weekend. My final four predictions were correct but I won't be able to see the games because I'll be studying later and Monday night I have class all night long so it'll be over with by the time I am out of school. it just sucks to be me. Well go UCLA. Three years in a row! They can't leave empty handed this time. Hope everyone has a good weekend! OUT!

    Final Four Predicitions!

Monday, March 31, 2008, 12:22 PM PST [General]

Well even though all my brackets are messed up I was right about one thing. My final four predictions. I picked all number 1s to go to the final four and for once I was right. Kansas, North Carolina, Memphis and UCLA are all going to the final four. Now lets just hope my final four prediction will come true. I have UCLA winning over North Carolina in the championship game. I know I am a homer when it comes to college basketball but they have a leginiment shot this year. So why not? Well we'll have to see what happens. Maybe I can win some kind of prizes.

In other sports news the Clippers beat the Memphis Grizzlies. I find it kind of funny since they beat the Lakers Friday night. It is rare when I say anything about them but looks like they are going to have problems down the stretch if they can't beat Memphis. Well this Western Conference race is so tight every game is like a playoff game. The Clippers can be spoilers if they like. That would be fun. See a team not go to the playoffs thanks to the Los Angeles Clippers. LOL!

Anyway I have another online blog. If you are interested check it out. The url is www.jreedandfriends.wordpress.com . Check it out and see what it is about. If you are interested in subscribing or being a blog contributor just send me a message here on the all access network. Anyway thats all for now. PEACE!

Clippers season is almost over! Thank god!

Wednesday, March 26, 2008, 11:44 AM PST [General]

Well for the Clippers it has been one long roller coaster ride. And for the sake of the team and everyone that has to play them I can happily say that their season is almost over. They have decesions to make on players this coming offseason as well as players making a decesion about staying with them team. I'll run by  each player and express what I feel they should do about that player or vice versa. I'll probably post this again in the myspace clippers group.

Elton Brand- Been out all year long. Hard to see him walking away from 16 mil. I don't think he'll opt out.

Corey Maggette- It personally wouldn't bother me to see this guy leave. I like him as a player and everything he has done for the organization but he's not the best guy on the team and he shouldn't get a max out deal at all. Maybe 9 million at the most.

Chris Kaman- Hard to see him going anywhere. He got worn out when the Clippers failed to get another big man after Paul Davis went down.

Cuttino Mobley- He has good nights and bad nights. I think he would be hard to move in the offseason personally.

Tim Thomas- It hasn't worked out so far. We have to unload this guy.

Shaun Livingston- They have a big decesion to make on this guy. He has been injured each and every season he has been in the league. And he is going to miss all of this season. He is a good talent but if he is going to keep getting hurt like this I think we got to go in another direction in terms of the point guard position. We'll see how he does in the summer league.

Aaron Williams- This is the resaon why we have problems up front. He's always hurt. Signing him was a pretty bad idea. I don't think Clips will resign him.

Al Thornton- The new future! He was screwed not playing in the rookie challenge and he is the 2nd leading scorer among all rookies. Enough said!

Brevin Knight- He does what he can but one thing he can't do is hit a open jump shot. He'll probably stick around because of our problems yet again at point guard.

Josh Powell- He's doing what he can but he is clearly not a Center. Too undersized. He'll probably be Brand's new back up once he gets back. With our problems up front can't really see us getting rid of him.

Paul Davis- Was playing well until he got injured. Let's see how this summer works out.

Smush Parker- Will probably stick around because of the problems at point guard.

Dan Dickau- The Clippers probably won't resign him.

Quinton Ross- Dunleavy's favorite player. Can't shoot the ball into the ocean however. If Dunleavy stays he'll stay.

Nick Fazekas- He'll have to compete with Paul Davis for playing time. But I would keep him just to have insurance.

Ok that takes care of the whole current roster. We do need to make changes though. Even if this roster is healthy I don't see it really clicking and winnning together. Many of those fools are saying Arenas might be coming but they are being so optimisitc and don't know what they are talking about it. It could happen but fools are assuming it already will. I try not to pay attention to rumors. I just let all play out.

    On to the Sweet Sixteen!

Sunday, March 23, 2008, 10:17 PM PST [General]

Well the sweet sixteen teams are in and let me tell you I only got 10 of the 16 teams. But I just filled out my 2nd chance bracket on Yahoo! and I am going to fill one out for my gf and my mom and maybe my bro. depedning upon how I am filling. I need to look at matchups and do hw but the thing is it is so hard since it is one single game. Anything can happen. The big surprises for me has been San Diego (even though they are out now) and Davidson. Duke was overrated definitely. And I suppose UConn and Georgetown going out as soon as they did didn't really help anything. But right now I have no idea what to do and I have a lot of decesion making to do before Thursday. Wish me luck people.

Well it was Easter today so me and my gf went to my grandmas house ate some good home cookin' and played some games (dominoes, and Apples to Apples) along with watching a bit of College Basketball. I'm hoping everyone out there had a good Easter weekend and is ready for the week to get started once again. I'm out and I'll be back later this week.
