    Dorrell must go...NOW!

Monday, November 19, 2007, 10:12 PM PST [General]

I'm incredulous at the number of Bruin supporters who all of a sudden want Karl Dorrell to get one more year as head coach of the Bruins. WHY? Under Dorrell...the Bruins are averaging 5 losses per season. Name one major college football program that would keep a coach who averaged that many losses over that many seasons? Exactly--none! Unless you're a Paterno or a Bowden...who've had so much success that they're allowed a bad streak. But Dorrell's had one fluke of a good season...10-2 in 2005...and he beat SC last year. That's not enough success to earn another year. Karl may end up being a great head coach down the line...but it's not his time right now at UCLA........

Dorrell replacements? My wish list --NOT necessarily in this order:

    1--Mike Bellotti....current Oregon head coach....

2--Rick Neuheisal....Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator...former Bruin player and coach (would be my number one pick...but I don't think the Bruins will even consider him)....

    3--Jeff Tedford....current Cal head coach

4--Chris Peterson....current Boise St. head coach.........

    5--Steve Mariucci....former Cal...49ers and Lions head coach.....

Kwame Brown may miss half the season with a bad MCL. Not all bad news for the Lakers, though, as Andrew Bynum will get some much-needed playing time with Brown rehabbing. Brown's defense will be missed ...but not that much since he only plays hard about every third game.......

I like the idea of Mariucci coming to the Bruins. I think any head coach in the NFL with some quality years of experience could come in and do a pretty good job coaching college. The question is would he want the job?

    Big Joe...you da man!!!

I have to disagree...that list is a dream list not a wish list!

    1. Bellotti didn't want to take the $c job because he didn't want to move to LA so do you think he would take the Ucla job? He didn't want to come to LA because of the quality of life in Oregon!

    2. Not Neuweasel!!! I have heard that DG wants to be the NCAA president one day and hiring Neuweasel will not help his cause. He has left both Udub and CU in shambles after he has left. The first couple of years will be great but then you will have players getting into fights, DUIs and and academic problems if he is the new Ucla coach.

    3. Tedford...with all the talent he has what has he won? Why does he have problems with Ucla when he is supposed to be the better coach and have the better team? One good victory was his victory vs. $c! His team has quit on him this year. Lastly, why go to Ucla which has tougher academic standards than Kal? (ex. DeSean Jackson could get into Ucla but got into Kal...WTF!!! (Lavelle Hawkins could get into LSU but got into Kal...what?)

    4. Chris Peterson...I like this one but he would never leave Boise for Ucla. He makes the same amount of money but the cost of living is very different...better quality of life in Boise. Plus, Nebbie, LSU, Michigan, Arkansas, etc...would give twice as much money as Ucla would.

    4. Steve Mariucci....ahh...one a down at Kal....he might stay two years and then he would be the Falcons or Dolphins coach. He would not stay at Ucla.

Personally I think Ucla is not committed to football and they will hire a coach that you never heard of. I think Dorrell has done a great job. He has cleaned up the program, the kids are in good academic standing and these are kids that Ucla fans can be proud of. I don't know if you realize that if you program is not in good academic standing you can lose scholarships. I do believe its a coaches job to graduate players.

To deal with the lack of administration commitment, you need an above average coach to lead this program. I think it would be nice to finally have a staff that is keep together for another year (High staff TO because Ucla doesn't pay their staff) but that seems unlikely.

My choices are Norm Chow or DeWayne Walker!

Kurt Streeter was great last night...have a great Thanksgiving!!!

But that is not what i am writing you about, i am not a janitor i am the dude wearing the flowered shirt that all you people complain to, bring back returns to, at your local trader joes. So if i am a loser it is the fact that i have to put up losers which may be you or not. So maybe you should think about what you say about people in general.
