Dorrell must go...NOW!
I'm incredulous at the number of Bruin supporters who all of a sudden want Karl Dorrell to get one more year as head coach of the Bruins. WHY? Under Dorrell...the Bruins are averaging 5 losses per season. Name one major college football program that would keep a coach who averaged that many losses over that many seasons? Exactly--none! Unless you're a Paterno or a Bowden...who've had so much success that they're allowed a bad streak. But Dorrell's had one fluke of a good season...10-2 in 2005...and he beat SC last year. That's not enough success to earn another year. Karl may end up being a great head coach down the line...but it's not his time right now at UCLA........
Dorrell replacements? My wish list --NOT necessarily in this order:
1--Mike Bellotti....current Oregon head coach....
2--Rick Neuheisal....Baltimore Ravens' offensive coordinator...former Bruin player and coach (would be my number one pick...but I don't think the Bruins will even consider him)....
3--Jeff Tedford....current Cal head coach
4--Chris Peterson....current Boise St. head coach.........
5--Steve Mariucci....former Cal...49ers and Lions head coach.....
Kwame Brown may miss half the season with a bad MCL. Not all bad news for the Lakers, though, as Andrew Bynum will get some much-needed playing time with Brown rehabbing. Brown's defense will be missed ...but not that much since he only plays hard about every third game.......
